Every time a new term starts, I like to introduce the kids to a short, fun, "warm-up" art project. This term, we are exploring the world of animals, and to start, the kids had to create an animal out of river pebbles.
Big containers with river pebbles were set up on the tables and the kids had to carefully choose each pebble according to its shape and size, in order to get the right shape of their chosen animal.
Once, they checked that the shape was right, we glued them to a small canvas and the kids painted the pebbles and added the background.
Here are some samples of the final creations:
A bunny by Mika (Grade 1)
A flamingo by Leahie (Grade 2)
A fox by Abby (Grade 2)
A horse by Eliana (Grade 2)
A bunny by Mika (Grade 2)
